The pledge was announced at the construction site of the hospital’s $128 million extension. This will include a new trauma resuscitation area at its Trauma Center, which will be built with the help of Harrah’s donation. In light of Harrah’s contribution, AtlantiCare announced it is renaming the Regional Trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC). It will called Harrah's Regional Trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Emergency Center. The Harrah’s Foundation has already handed over $200,000 of the donation, and will give the remainder over the next five years. It is the largest pledge the Foundation has made to date. David P. Tilton, president and chief executive officer of AtlantiCare said the generous donation would have a positive impact on the community, adding that it was a great example of corporate social accountability. AtlantiCare’s Special Gifts Campaign was set up to raise $10 million towards the $128 million expansion of its hospital. The new seven-story patient tower, the George F. Lynn Harmony Pavilion, will open to the public later this year. AtlantiCare will also use campaign funds to upgrade the existing ARMC City campus facility. Carlos Tolosa, president of Harrah’s Entertainment, Eastern Division said Harrah’s was delighted to support the new trauma center and said it hopes to collaborate with AtlantiCare in the future. The Harrah's Regional Trauma Center celebrated its 15th anniversary in May and opened a new helipad in June. It treated a record number of 1,669 patients in June.
