Embarrassing result for prosecutor and enforcement

 November 2, 2008, 7:50 am (1 year ago)
There may be some embarrassing moment amongst prosecutors and enforcement officers in Maricopa County in the state of Arizona this week following a local Superior Court judge sent gambling-syndicate accusations back to the grand jury due to a county prosecutor did not notify the jury of imperative lawful facts in receiving the accusations.
The most recent reproach by a judge follows a related action a week ago when Judge Roland Steinle also threw out all the wrong counts in the case - generally charges of profiting from gambling – due to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office had not succeeded to receive indictments previous to the 1-year edict of limitations expired on those crimes.

According to the Arizona Republic newspaper, over 30 defendants confronted 130 felony and 80 misdemeanor counts for placing and collecting on bets carried out via Costa Rican online gambling websites.

Steinle had previously remanded charges in opposition to 2 defendants in September due to the prosecutor not successfully informing that the Costa Rican websites were possibly protected by global treaty and due to the prosecutor's failure to respond to questions regarding the legitimacy of actions conducted in Costa Rica.
