Kentucky gives up the right to seize the names

 January 25, 2009, 8:34 am (1 year ago)
Some big names in the online gambling business, such as Bodog and Full Tilt Poker, were going to be confiscated by the state of Kentucky with the state law stating gambling is prohibited.

But under this same law, names are just names as the actual names are not tools utilized to gambling. Thus the state had to give up the right to confiscate the names of 141 online gambling sites to a 2-1 vote.

The authority of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, J. Michael Brown had this to say about the conclusion: 'The Commonwealth is going to keep its action to guard Kentucky citizens from unlawful internet gambling businesses, and appeal the recent Court of Appeals judgment to the state Supreme Court. The proof indicated that illegitimate and loose activity is taking place in Kentucky, and that great amount of money are being lost consequently of that activity, a fact that wasn't argued in Tuesday's judgment. At the present, we have 2 judges who have the same opinion as our situation, and 2 who oppose, so the most suitable action to take is to transfer our case to the higher court.'
