Sudden ban on gambling causing protest

The Ukraine government’s prohibited gambling all of a sudden yesterday without any form of explanation given. Apparently, it has caused thousands of employees of gaming halls and casinos staging to march down the street to demonstrate the protest against new law in the country’s capital, according to Reuters new service.As said by the weekly economic journal Expert, 4 000 companies run about 13,000 gaming halls in Ukraine.

Protestors in Kiev recited slogans in front of President Viktor Yushchenko’s house, as they demanded the cancellation of the regulation issued by Parliament this week that sets out the prohibition. The parliamentary conclusion has to be approved by the president previous to passing into law. An additional demonstration by approximately 600 people conducted in the eastern city of Donetsk.
