According to Agence France Presse, turning out to be one of the most the upsetting Brazilian gambling story, a 40-strong lottery organization celebrated on winning $30 million only to find out that the seller had not put in the numbers in the draw.
Police are examining a case of scam after the shop that sold the lucky ticket failed to register it, therefore disqualifying it from winning the huge prize.
“We are informed that the ticket was paid for and if the ticket was not appropriately issued then scam was committed,” a local police chief, Clovis da Silva, commented.
The government financial agency in charge of the lottery has suspended the shop in the southern city of Novo Hamburgo.
