Casinos in New Pittsburgh are on a high

According to the officially released figures by The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, claim gamblers have wagered more than $1 billion in Pennsylvania base casinos in last 90 days. These casinos opened from November 2006.

According to the report published by state Gaming Control Board, Casino patrons bet $1.06 billion and won $960.8 million.

Total earning generated was $267.6 million for the state - 55 percent tax on gross revenue and licensing fees were included.

Anne LaCour Neeb, Executive Director of gambling board said in a statement,” The revenues from this new industry already significantly exceed the expense thus far for startup costs associated with gaming”.

Mohegan Sun was the first casino at Pocono Downs, opened near Wilkes-Barre in November 14. Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack and Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack were some other casinos opened after that.

In the month of December, 11 slots were regulated. By the end of this month, Operators of Presque Isle Downs has planned to open the first Western Pennsylvania casino.

|Another casino named Meadows Racetrack & Casino based in Washington County, is scheduled to open in the coming spring. There will be 400 jobs vacancies in that casinos and applications are invited.

February 26, 2007 is the date scheduled for opening of employment center.
