Casino News: Discussion on Blocking Online Gambling Transactions in Australia

Discussion on Blocking Online Gambling Transactions in Australia

 November 14, 2011, 7:35 am (7 years ago)
Recently, Australian Banker's Association (ABA) has met with many trade associations of Australia for doing submissions to federal government to review the online gambling reform. They said that any step for utilizing national payment system in order to block internet gambling would be unusable. Visa has stated that they have worried that their attempt towards blocking all the financial transactions for online gambling websites will also affect the online shopping very badly.

Steven Munchenberg, the CEO of ABA has warned the joined selection committee that restrictions on financial transactions for gambling industries should not be straight forward. If Australia has highlighted as the jurisdiction, where all the payment obligations were not fulfilled in a proper manner and within the definite time, this may be possible that gambling merchants and online service providers will not accept any business transactions from customers as belonging to Australia. The Parliamentary Committee has revealed that Australians could approach 92% of 2,443 online gambling websites, even though IGA will put restrictions on local websites from doing business transactions with Australian residents.
