Recently, a report has revealed that arcades of slots machines have grown across the United Kingdom, along with several regions, where unemployment rates are very high, such as Welsh valleys, Yorkshire towns and Glasgow areas. As such, UK politicians are demanding for bringing changes in the existing gambling regulations that will halt the growth of slots machines in UK, in relation to the number of slots machines across the country. This will particularly affect those areas, where retail shops and stores become closed because of recession.
Harriet Harman, the secretary of shadow culture has stated that she had personally observed an increase in number of wagering shops in her own electorate, Peckham and Camberwell, along with casino groups of slam areas, for aiming the poorer sectors. She further added that having tough rules and regulations on high bet gaming machines, will result in playing of casino game in each high street. However, ABB (Association of British Bookmakers) mentioned that poverty cannot be exacerbated by placing the bets in gamble games.
