According to a Danville district lawmaker, online gaming might have a chance to get its position in Illinois as part of the talks to add to the number of casinos in the state as well as contribute to the horse racing industry.
Rep. Chad Hays believes that the state will be able to have the opportunity to improve finical problems of racing industry with some kind of online gaming, rather than providing slots at racetracks.
Hays revealed that he observed a conference which consisted of a working group of lawmakers, reps of the casino and racing industries and the governor's office. Hays, who believes in the expansion of gambling in Illinois including a casino in Danville, commented that he saw a great deal of hope in the discussion.
He commented that he was encouraged to see the parties are starting to unite and that there is participation of representatives from governor's office. Hays also commented, "As you know the governor did not take part in this discussion last year. And the feedback that I receive from people on both sides of the aisle is that they are passionate."
