Demand of Petitioners to put Restrictions on Expansion of UK Betting Shops

 February 17, 2012, 7:32 am (5 years ago)
At present, Southwark of London is facing the strong pressure to put restriction on the expansion of number of betting outlets in the nearby the residential area. The residents of that area had recently signed a petition to demand that the council should make amendments in the gambling laws and prevents the expansion of all those gambling groups in the area, which already has approximately 80 betting shops.

About thousands of petitioners have mentioned that UK gambling establishments are targeting slum areas of London. Gambling Reform and Society Perception (GRASP) has confirmed that reports mentioned by the petitioners are fact and has revealed that Southwark was not only the targeted area. According to one of the speakers of GRASP, “In Haringey, betting outlets are properly targeting the slum areas and people with known demographic may more likely involve in gambling activities.”
