 June 17, 2007, 5:34 pm (1 year ago)

Congressman Barney Frank has been campaigning and asking Americans to contact their local representatives to support his measures. To coincide with the hearings that takes place this week with his bill establishing the scheme to legalize, license and regulate the operations on online gambling.

According to the Massachusetts Democrat’s “Call your representatives and Senators telling them to get out of your life.” The congressman Frank, Barney stated that this bill, is officially known “The Internet Gambling Regulatory and Enforcement Act of 2007, will essentially oppose the Internet gambling ban passed the previous year in USA by way of the regulations and can succeed if the Americans can help with his bill.

Frank said that “the average American understand what is happening, my colleagues are going to be told that “listen you have made a mistake and butt out of my business” by that point we can think of a way to be able to change it.”

Opponents of his bill say that this would create a new Government agency, Frank said that it wouldn’t stating that the existing Financial Crimes Enforcement Network will be responsible to prevent money laundering. He also said that he doubt the real motives for the passage of the original measures but his bill deals only with what was stated as the official reason of the ban in online gambling.

According to Frank “they are worried that gambling in the internet will cover for the drug running and money laundering, I cannot just ignore this things because some people are paying attention. But I do not think that those are the real reasons but they were there that we had to face them.”
