Gambling receipts rocket in Macao

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, casino business accounted for 98 percent of all gaming receipts in the Asian gambling destination in those six months.
In Macao, which is home to casino tycoon Stanley Ho, authorities revealed that receipts from casino games, lotteries, horseracing and greyhound racing came to 37.97 billion patacas ($4.75bn US).
As betting saw a sharp decrease, the casino sector and especially slot machines more than made up for the shortfall. Slots saw a massive gross increase in receipts of 76.3 percent from January to June, while the number of slot machines was up 81.7 percent to 8,234.
The number of gaming tables also saw a dramatic increase, up to 3,102, a rise of 58.8 percent from a year earlier.
The most popular card game was Bacarrat while Roulette came in as the big game of chance in Macao during the first half of the year.
